What is Astrology?
The scientific mapping of the
stars and planetary movements has existed in civilizations around the world
from the earliest beginnings of recorded history (6,000 years). These
scientific observations of planetary movement in correlation with the
backdrop of certain constellations and fixed stars, solar and lunar eclipses,
phases of the moon etc., appeared to correlate to certain “predictable”
events associated with weather, agriculture, political events and, most
interesting of all, human behavior and the course of an individual’s life. In the East astrology has been
used for thousands of years. In India, Vedic Astrology is known for its
accuracy in is assessing compatibility between prospective marriage partners
and for its accurate predictive capabilities. In Western cultures scientific astronomers were often called
upon to read horoscopes for royalty and the very wealthy along with their
astronomical observations. During the
Age of Enlightenment, astronomy separated itself from astrology, and it was
not until the 20th century that the psychological aspects of astrology and
a renewed interest in the science emerged in the West. Science now validates that the
expression of the physical universe is energy of different vibratory rates of
light and sound. All matter resonates with a vibration that is
measurable. The discipline of
astrology determines mathematically the symbolic influences of the alignments
of the sun, moon and planets in the various constellations at the time of
birth and also as they progress. The process involves casting an astrological
birth chart is based on the scientific calculation of the position of the
sun, moon, and planets in our solar system at the exact time and date of your
birth in relationship to the latitude and longitudinal location of your
birthplace. This chart is referred to
as your Natal or Birth chart. This
Natal Chart is your unique Celestial
Star Map that the astrologer
uses for a natal chart reading. A
child is born on that day and at that hour when the celestial rays are in
mathematical harmony with his individual karma. His horoscope is a
challenging portrait, revealing his unalterable past and it’s probable future
results. Astrology is the study of man’s response to planetary stimuli. The stars have no conscious benevolence or
animosity; they merely send forth positive and negative radiations. Of themselves, they do not help or harm
humanity, but offer a lawful channel for outward operation of cause-effect
equilibriums that each man has set into motion in the past. — Sri Yutkeswar,
